Last week I had the honour of capturing Henry, my friend's adorable three year old son. Sharon organized the portrait session as a birthday gift for her daughter Bailey, to gift Bailey with photos of Henry. I was absolutely thrilled because I have been head over heels for Henry since I first met him as a baby.
Henry is a sweet, loveable, quick moving toddler who loves Sesame Street and loves to laugh. His aunties and mom have him giggling constantly and in return he easily keeps their home filled with laughter and love. He is completely smitten with his granddad and is so loved by his grandma. The love and care Bailey and her family provide to Henry is beyond words. Henry is a child with Down syndrome and his family let me know that today was the perfect timing to release this session as March 21st marks World Down Syndrome Day. WDSD is celebrated to help raise awareness of what Down syndrome is, what it means to have Down syndrome, and how people with Down syndrome play a vital role in our lives and communities.
If you have ever met a person with Down syndrome it doesn't take long to see the pure love that shines through them. They are amazing people with so much to offer, especially when people believe in them and communities rally around them. "There is no greater disability in society, than the inability to see a person as more."
Henry is an extraordinary little boy who leaves the people around him happier just by being himself.
I encourage you to visit the WDSD website, educate yourself on Down syndrome, and celebrate a person in your life with Down syndrome, today and every day of the year!
